According to TSN.ca, the Rangers have claimed Sean Avery off of the waiver wire. The Rangers will assume approximately $3.7 million a year over the next three years of his contract. When looking at last year's contract proposal to Avery from the Rangers, they Rangers will actually be saving money off of the fiery winger's contract.
Yesterday when the Rangers were making roster moves, I noted Avery to the Rangers seemed imminent. In that article, I posed the merits of Avery on the squad. I am still not sure whether or not Avery will click in with the Rangers lines or even how he will get along with Tortorella, but Thursday night will be the first chance for us to see what happens.
In order to make some salary cap space, Rangers waived defenseman Eric Reitz and the poor man's Sean Avery, Aaron Voros.
